Our community center, Waite House-Pillsbury United Communities, was recently selected by KaBOOM! and Target as 1 of 3 Minneapolis sites to receive a new playground! This opportunity is incredibly exciting for us, and especially so for the 60 youth who come here after school every day. A new place to play, explore, take risks and be inspired.
This project is going to require a lot of work and many hands to make it possible. We need 100+ volunteers over the span of three days: Wednesday, September 14th through Friday the 16th. There will be a variety of ways for volunteers to help out (i.e. painting, staffing the registration table, serving as team leads, moving mulch, assembling playground components, and the list goes on...). We can really find something for anyone! Delicious food (breakfast + lunch), plenty of water, and youth activities will be provided.

Description
Waite House has provided community building activities, youth and service programs to the ever-changing Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis since 1969. The dedicated and diverse staff of Waite House have been providing human services and community building activities to this ever-changing community. Facilities at Waite House include a kitchen, computer lab, gymnasium, classrooms and meeting spaces, and a food shelf.
