Position Duties:

The Tobacco Prevention Advocacy Volunteer will play an essential role in generating support for new tobacco policies to make an impact on smoking and tobacco use among Lake County’s youth. Advocacy volunteers will work to create relationships with local policy and decision makers, influencers, and community groups to gain support for more regulation of establishments that sell tobacco products. Volunteers will attend city commission meetings, coalition meetings, and other community gatherings to promote the goals of Tobacco Free Florida. Volunteers may also develop messaging or communication materials and distribute them as needed.

Qualifications:

Volunteers must be self-motivated and passionate about tobacco cessation and prevention. Experience with advocacy and relationship building is helpful, but not required. Some knowledge of tobacco regulation is helpful, but not required. This position is great for groups or organizations, teens, and seniors.

Training:

Volunteer must complete a two-hour orientation/training.
