Smart Farm of Barrington

The Smart Farm is a volunteer-run, 501c3 not for profit educational farm that provides all the fruits and vegetables that it grows to our local food pantries and other neighbors in need. We have been growing food for 9 seasons and need your help Seeding, Weeding, Harvesting and Organizing our Farm. In addition to our regular farming duties we will begin phase 1 of our permaculture plan. With this plan we will transform our 10 acre farm into a sustainable food forest to last for many generations to come. We have lots to do and need your help!!

Come and join us for some Dirt Therapy! Our Workdays are Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9am-Noon but we are happy to schedule a Corporate Team Building Day to fit your schedule. It is a great way to build team spirit and help our community! We can be flexible with timing and days. Please Contact us at smartfarms2@gmail.com for a great day at the Farm!

The Smart Farm will cultivate a healthy, eco-friendly community by: 1. Offering adults and children learning opportunities in sustainable farming; 2. Promoting the benefits of sustainable farming; and, 3. Donating fresh produce to support our neighbors in need.

Description

LEARN: Smart Farm is a permaculture farm for the Barrington area and nearby communities. Adults, children, and students learn about their agricultural heritage, organic regenerative farming, the slow food movement, and best practices for living "green," sustainable lives.

GROW : Volunteer to help us grow our vegetables, using the latest techniques in integrated pest management, water and soil conservation, and composting.

SHARE: A portion of our produce is shared with local food pantries and other hunger relief agencies.
