9/10/16 from 12pm-4pm - looking for a couple volunteers to help set up for the event and keep things running smoothly. Computer/technology knowledge would be helpful, but we can help fill in those who would like to learn. You will likely be interacting with children at the event, if you take on a non-tech role. Tasks may include:
- setting up Raspberry Pi computers: physically connecting, powering on, loading game emulators
- configuring MaKey MaKey "controllers"
- setting up Mario Kart 8 on Wii U for tournament
- setting up library resources for display
- selling raffle tickets
- setting up food stations
- playing games
Volunteers will get free pizza & cupcake, and will be able to enjoy the games and resources while not actively engaged in tasks. Being present for the entire duration of the party is not a requirement, however, we ask that you plan on a minimum of 1 hour.

Mission Statement
Our goal is to bring better STEM programs to students in the Detroit Metro by building a lending library of tech resources, and bringing together a community of makers to share their knowledge and experience.
Description
Thumble is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that offers free workshops, a mobile makerspace, and tech lending library to students & educators in Metro Detroit.
Between 2017 and 2020, the state of Michigan science standards for K-12 students are changing to meet next-gen standards.Let's make sure that our educators have everything that they need to rise to the challenge.
We want to foster a community of knowledge sharing, and share what we have with our community. Our dream is to put our resou rces within reach of every school in the Detroit Public School system, and beyond. Through our mobile makerspace, public workshops, and lending library, we believe we can achieve just that. We can introduce STEAM subjects in a fun and inspiring way that was designed especially for children. Educators can share their classroom tips (and more) with each other, and children will be able to share experiences with students at other schools.
