Unlocking Futures is a newly established 501c3 nonprofit organization striving to help the severly affected and yet often forgotten in the sentencing process: The family and children. Through four essential programs: food assistance, monetary hardship funds, visitation transporation, and an Entrepreneurial mentoring program---we aim to keep parental relationships in tact, foster a stable and nourishing home life for the child, and ultimately break the cycle of broken by reducing recidivism.
We are in need of several volunteers to help assist us with our fundraising initiatives to meet our revenue goals. We are looking for volunteers to come up with creative fundraising ideas, help assist with set up and tear down on the day of events, help promote fundraisers through personal and social networks, and other tasks as they arise.
We are seeking volunteers who embody the following:

We seek to empower youths and families by improving release outcomes, reducing recidivism rates and assisting families in finding the resources necessary to thrive in their communities.
Description
Unlocking Futures is a nonprofit geared towards helping families who have been impacted by incarceration. The idea for the organization came about as a result of the founder's own experience with raising a child with an incarcerated parent and while doing so, she lacked a support system. Her and her child experienced many hardships and found that there were not any community agencies providing support to families after their loved one became incarcerated. So, she founded Unlocking Futures.
Unlocking Futures provides parenting classes, academic tutoring, and a social and emotional program. The parenting program utilizes an evidenced-based curriculum to help youth and adults develop healthy communication skills while also teaching drug and alcohol prevention as well.
