ROSE is new non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the powerful healing energy of Reiki into the lives of Elders by bringing Reiki volunteers into Adult Day Care Centers, Assisted Living Facilities, Nursing Homes, and other elder-serving communities. Since we are just beginning, we are looking to fill all sorts of volunteer positions. One position we need is a Community Outreach Coordinator (perhaps several) to contact elder-serving communities such as Assisted Living Facilities to explain the benefits of Reiki and the mission of ROSE and to try to have these facilities become members of ROSE for the purpose of having ROSE Reiki practitioner volunteers regularly come to the facility on specific dates and times arranged in advance with the facility in order to provide free Reiki services to the residents of the facility.

For those not familiar with Reiki, it is the most known of many types of energ-based alternate or complementary medical approaches used for therapeutic benefit around the world, and is one of the fastest growing forms of Energy-Based Medicine. Reiki has been extensively studied and found to be safe and effective, with no negative side effects. Because of its health benefits, Reiki has been used in hospital operating rooms as early as the mid-1990's, and is currently being offered in hundreds of hospitals and other medical facilities around the country. In 2007, 15% of U.S. hospitals (over 800 facilities) offered Reiki as a regular part of patient services. Since then, the numbers have continued to grow.

Reiki is also used extensively in Hospice settings, to help ease the pain and anxiety of those going through the dying process.

Despite its prevalent use in hospitals, and in hospice Reiki is not currently used with any regularity in elder-centric facilities such as senior centers, adult day-care centers, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes.

The mission of ROSE is to bring the healing power of Reiki to elders in these elder-centric facilities.
