Help MNUDL kick off the middle school debate season by volunteering as a judge! We need your help to have this afterschool opputunity available for our middle school debaters.
NO PREVIOUS DEBATE EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. Judges watch the debate round and evaluate teams on logic, effective argumentation, and speaking skills. They pick a winner, assign speaking points to individual students, and provide written feedback on their decision. By volunteering you save the league hundreds of dollars in judging fees and provide an invaluable service to the community, allowing us to support more students.
Lunch is also provided and we are happy to work with you to be flexible with your needs and schedules, as you are doing a great service for the students in our program.
High School Judge volunteers will undergo a small training session at 3:15pm that will educate them on the norms of high school debate, including debate evaluation, the style of the activity, and how to make effective and informative decisions.
Minimum Requirements:
* Attend 1-hour judging training

The mission of MNUDL is to empower students through competitive academic debate to become engaged learners, critical thinkers, and active global citizens who are effective advocates for themselves and their communities.
Description
The Minnesota Urban Debate League (MNUDL) is a program of Augsburg University which provides resources and programming to support competitive academic debate in Twin Cities high schools and middle schools. Currently, MNUDL serves more than 1,200 students at 40 partner schools and has seen sustained growth in student participation since its inception in 2004.
