Overview of Role: Volunteer(s) will serve as front desk receptionist and help support the Volunteer Department.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome volunteer groups and individuals to the food bank
- Answer and redirect phone calls
- Communicate with the staff
- Accept and record small donations
- Various data entry
- Create signs
- Conduct research
- Help with various projects that can be done while handling the front desk.
Requirements: The volunteer(s) will demonstrate a welcoming, personable attitude, and is able to communicate requested information to individuals coming to the food bank. Must be able to read and write English. Basic knowledge of Microsoft office and a multi-line phone system is helpful.
Age: 16 years old
Location: All Locations
- West Suburban Center: 273 Dearborn Court Geneva, IL 60134
Time Commitment and Duration: We would like a weekly commitment of at least 3 hours.
Current Openings:
Tuesday: 12:00-3:00pm
5:30pm-8:30pm
Thursday: 5:00pm-7:00pm
Saturday: 9:00am-12:00pm,
12:30pm-1:30pm, every 2nd Saturday of the Month
Training Required: Orientation will be provided on the first day.

Did you know 1 in 8 of our neighbors in northern Illinois face hunger? 1 in 5 kids in northern Illinois face hunger struggles as well. Northern Illinois Food Bank acquires donated food from retailers, local and national manufacturers, farmers, individuals, businesses, the federal government and also purchases additional products. Northern Illinois Food Bank then delivers the food to our network partners for distribution to hungry neighbors. We currently work with 900 network partners in 13 counties to help feed those in need. Volunteer, donate, and get involved in our feeding hungry neighbors today!
