Best Buddies is a 501(c) non-profit organization that is focused on creating inclusion in the community for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We create one-to-one friendships in schools all over the Tampa Bay area.

One of our programs is the ambassador program. This program educates and empowers people with IDD through group trainings and workshops to be leaders and public speakers in their schools, communities, and work places.

Best Buddies will be holding our annual novice ambassador training on September 24 th, at the USF Marshall Center from 9am-130pm. During this training, we invite some of our students with intellectual and developmental disabilities to come and learn how to write and present speeches that tell 'their story’. Ambassadors are paired with a speech coach, who will help him or her write their speech.

We are currently looking for people in the community to volunteer as a speech coach. Speech coaches are there to support the ambassador in writing the speech, keep them on track, help them come up with ideas and help them practice before their presentation.

If this is something you would be interested in doing or you would like more information, please contact Cydni Weiner at cydniweiner@bestbuddies.org
