James Way Oak Habitat and Wildlife Preserve Workday, August 12th from 9:00 am-1:00 pm.

Are you interested in helping take care of Arroyo Grande’s open space? Join community members to remove old fencing from James Way Oak Habitat and Wildlife Preserve. The fence surrounding the windmill adjacent to James Way is in poor condition and needs to be replaced. Approximately 10 people are needed to assist with the beginning phase of this project. For more information or if you are i nterested in volunteering with the fence removal workday on August 12th, please contact the City’s Volunteer Coordinator at (805) 473-5473.

The James Way Oak Habitat and Wildlife Preserve is located on James Way and has equestrian and jogging/walking trails for your use. The habitat is an oak preserve and winds along a hillside through majestic old oaks. Wildlife such as birds of prey, deer, fox, bobcats, and rabbits are found in this unique natural area.

Description

The City of Arroyo Grande Recreation Services Department is responsible for providing recreation and leisure opportunities for residents and visitors of all ages. These programs are offered with the hope that they not only meet the community's interests, but also inspire residents to try something new. The City offers community members adult and youth programs and classes, sport leagues, childcare programs, and special events which are highlighted in a seasonal Activity Guide. Specifically, the Recreation Services Department manages scheduling and reservations for all recreational facilities, including parks and barbeque areas, community centers, and athletic fields. The Department also provides staff support for the Parks & Recreation Commission's monthly meetings.
