Every year, ecomaine opens the doors of its Recycling and waste-to-energy facilities for our annual Recycling Open House. We are seeking like-minded folks to volunteer with children attending the open house by doing crafts with them. There will be paper-making and a weaving craft and we will provide all the materials and training you need to successfully have fun with the kids.
For your valuable volunteer service, you will receive a t-shirt made from 50% water bottles, a breakfast sandwich fresh from the griddle, cider and/or coffee (bring your own mug if you have one!!!) and a fun morning all around.

Mission Statement
ecomaine provides comprehensive long-term solid waste solutions in a safe, environmentally responsible, economically sound manner, and is a leader in raising public awareness of sustainable waste management strategies.
Description
ecomaine is a community-owned nonprofit organization providing single-sort recycling and waste-to-energy services for more than 55 member communities as far north as Glenburn, east as Swan's Island and South as Greenland, N.H. We were the pioneer of single-sort recycling in the state of Maine in 2007 and our waste-to-energy facility reduces the volume of trash by 90 percent before it is stored in our landfill in a stabilized ash form. As advocates of the Maine DEP's waste management hierarchy, we will also soon begin offering food waste diversion solutions to our member communities as well.
