Bike Club

The Oakland Public Library’s innovative 81st Avenue Branch hosts a very popular bike program each Friday from 2:00-4:30. Patrons are invited to fix and decorate their bicycles. Participation in this program is free of charge and open to anyone, although most attendees are children and youth.

We are seeking patient, responsible adult volunteers who have experience with bike maintenance, repair, or decoration to assist our staff during this program each Friday afternoon through September.

An additional time slot is available on Saturdays, 12:00-2:00, when library staff could use volunteer help with drop-in bike repairs and with organizing parts, tools, and inventory.

Candidates should be at least 18 years old and must enjoy working with youth. Experience with bicycle maintenance, repair, or decoration is greatly appreciated.
