The AAA Child Scholarship Program, a nonprofit assisting children to pay for tuition in Uganda, is looking for an intern to assist in planning and coordinating events for fundraising and sponsorship opportunities. By interning with the Child Scholarship Program, the Event Coordinator Intern will expand our capacity to reach out to the community and raise funds and awareness for our programs. One of the biggest tasks will be to assist in coordinating our annual Scholarship Gala. This position will have a huge impact on a global issue and hold sustainable outcomes that can be seen. With increased outreach and fundraising efforts, more children will be given the gift of education in Uganda that would otherwise be impossible.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Co-organize the organization’s annual Gala event

* Market events in the community and try to generate interest

* Introduce new ideas for fundraising and outreach events

* Coordinate events on the day-of and delegate tasks to other volunteers/staff

REQUIREMENTS:

COMMITMENT:

The position requires a minimum 3-5 month commitment for 4-8 hours per week. The Gala will be held mid November.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

* Experience planning/organizing events

* Knowledge of San Diego County and potential outreach outlets

* Highly organized

* Highly professional communicator (written and verbal)

BENEFITS:

This position offers the opportunity to work in a leadership role and to earn a highly important resume booster as an event planner for non-profits. Intern will receive a wide variety of experience in marketing, administrative, creative, and leadership fields. Although this position is unpaid, we are happy to provide an internship description and verification if you are seeking to attain college credit for your internship.
