Position Overview

Volunteer Leadership Team (VLT) Members will serve as volunteer group leaders and/or event area volunteer coordinators, creating a working infrastructure during Bike MS: The Road Divided event weekend.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as volunteer coordinator over a particular area of the event
  • Serve as liaison between MS Society staff and volunteers on event day
  • When applicable, recruit volunteers for area of responsibility

Initial Impact
Ensure sufficient event support in all areas, resulting in a positive experience for both volunteers and participants.

Sustained Outcome
Events will run more smoothly with greater communication and support of staff. Volunteer experience will be enhanced, promoting long-term, impactful relationships.

Training and Support
Detailed training on event logistics and volunteer positions will be provided. VLT members will work directly with staff liaison and will have a dedicated event staff person available to them during the event.

Qualifications

  • Volunteers must be outgoing and personable
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Dependable and willing to take responsibility for a group of people and/or a process
  • Volunteers must be over 18 years and pass a criminal background check

Time Commitment
* All VLT Members must be available during Bike MS event weekend Friday afternoon-Sunday evening, September 24-25 th , 2016.
* A 2-3 month commitment is requested - from July through September for members to be in communication with MS Society Staff.
* VLT Members should be available to attend at least one training meeting, one to ensure understanding of day-of duties and one to train their volunteers (if applicable). Volunteer recruitment can take place anytime and can be done at the office or at the volunteer’s home.
