Junior Achievement

At Junior Achievement of Greater St. Louis, two "mini-city" experiential programs, JA BizTown (5th and 6th grade) and JA Finance Park (middle and high school), significantly transform how every fifth through high school student throughout Missouri is taught to view the world of work, free enterprise, and his or her possibilities for success. Students buzz with the excitement of learning and challenges that adults face every day in the real world.

After hours of curriculum taught in the classroom by the teacher, students will embark on their JA experience where they will put into practice what they have learned back at school. They put their classroom instruction to work as they practice decision-making and learn about leadership and teamwork.

Volunteers are needed to help guide, assist, and facilitate students in a specific storefront during their on-site simulation in JA BizTown or JA Finance Park. The time commitment is approximately 5 hours and may vary per school schedule. The first thirty minutes of the day will include all of the training you need to help the students successfully navigate the "real" world.

Mission Statement

Junior Achievement of Greater St. Louis, Inc. will ensure that every child in the St. Louis area has a fundamental understanding of the free enterprise system.

Description

Since 1943, Junior Achievement of Greater St. Louis has been providing economic education to students throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan and surrounding areas. Junior Achievement provides hands-on activities that supplement and reinforce the regular classroom curriculum. Junior Achievement's programs empower students by inspiring and preparing them to succeed in a global economy.

Junior Achievement offers vital sequential learning programs to grades K-12 taught in their school classrooms by trained volunteers, like yourself, from the local community. These volunteers serve as role models to the kids, teaching them how to succeed in life through a quality education and responsible personal finance.

The Junior Achievement offices are located at the Dennis & Judy Jones Free Enterprise Center in Chesterfield Valley. Dedicated in May of 2004, The Center also houses JA's two Capstone Programs for grades 5-6 and 8-12. Here, students learn in an interactive environment, developing a comprehensive understanding of how the free enterprise system works.
