GeekGirlCon’s Individual Sponsorship Manager is in charge of acquiring and retaining individual sponsors for the organization, as well as organizing and maintaining details of individual donations. This person needs to be enthusiastic and passionate for GeekGirlCon’s mission. Not only do they have to be self motivated, they also need to motivate others. This position requires excellent communication skills, a keen eye for details, and a creative drive for thinking up ways to fundraise and cultivate support. Reports to Director of Internal Operations .

Duties
  • Oversees and manages both GeekGirlCon’s Individual Sponsorship program.
  • Assists Internal Operations Director and Executive Director in setting fundraising goals. Tracks progress towards goal and provides monthly reports.
  • Cultivates and coordinates all aspects of individual sponsorship, from strategy for outreach, recruitment and retention; outreach and collateral materials, to all sponsor communication.
  • Creates sustainable stewardship practices with an eye for both immediate and long term needs.
  • Track, enters, and reports all individual sponsorships as well as one-time donations and in-kind donations.
  • Makes sure all sponsorship tier awards/prizes/goodies/comped passes are distributed, and all individual sponsors are recognized as promised and in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates with Registration and Special Events regarding comped convention or show passes.
  • Provides list of individual sponsors for recognition in the program booklet.
  • Updates website with individual sponsors.
  • Plans and coordinates individual sponsor events and coordinates with departments as needed to run said drives.
  • Helps revamp sponsorship tiers year to year.
  • Works with Director of Internal Operations to set annual departmental sub-budget.
Qualifications
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to write clear, concise and compelling communication.
  • Experience in communicating business and marketing objectives to individuals in order to establish and maintain support and enthusiasm.
  • Self-motivated and able to operate with little direction.
  • Ability to make a 2 year commitment to the role.
Time Committment
  • 5-10 hours per week, increasing leading up to and after the Convention.


What It Means to Volunteer as GeekGirlCon Staff

GeekGirlCon staff positions are all volunteer, non-paid positions.

Attendance in person at monthly staff and departmental meetings is required.

Most work and design meetings are conducted over email or Skype.

Volunteering during the con is encouraged but not mandatory.

The staff is a team of highly dedicated, geeky, and passionate volunteers; it’s a lot of hard work, but an amazing experience with lots of opportunity to help build GeekGirlCon for the future.
