Community Coalition is a South Los Angeles based, non profit organization that has been at the forefront of the fight for social justice for over 25 years. In the wake of the tragic murders of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, and countless other defenseless men and women by the police we will be engaging the community to take civic action. We know civic action is a measurable and strategic response to voice our concerns and demonstrate our power. This autumn we will mobilize our neighbors through a series of voter registration drives and mobilize them to vote in massive numbers. We understand the importance and historical significance and power of the black and brown vote so join us as we educate and continue on the legacy of electoral power and progress!

Mission Statement
To help transform the social and economic conditions in South LA that foster addiction, crime, violence and poverty by building a community institution that involves thousands in creating, influencing and changing public policy.
Description
Community leaders, including U.S. Congresswoman Karen Bass, founded Community Coalition as a non-profit organization in 1990 in response to the 1980's crack cocaine epidemic that devastated South LA. The goal was to provide preventative community-centered solutions to the drug problem. Community Coalition works with African American and Latino residents to build a prosperous and healthy South LA with safe neighborhoods, quality schools, a strong social safety net and positive economic development in order to reduce crime, poverty and substance abuse in our community.
