Fireworks Stand Volunteers Needed!

Thank you for considering helping us sell fireworks this year. This is our biggest fundraiser each year and the funds we raise make a real difference to many people.

W e serve men, women and youth who are disadvantaged or under educated. Our students have been incarcerated, homeless, or enduring hardships due to domestic violence, generational poverty and other challenges. We provide character development, vocational training and work experience that prepares them for a productive life and successful career path.

Our tent is in front of Menards at 72 and L Street. This is our 3rd year at this location and 5th year total. In fact, we have been chose by the city every year to receive a sales permit because they know and value the work that we do.

A lot of work goes into this event but it is also a lot of fun. We are open from 9 AM to 10 PM each day for 10 days plus we have 3 days of set up in the beginning and 3 plus days of tear down and clean up at the end. So its a lot of work but it is well worth it for so many reasons. Our students work at the tent so they gain work experience - it's very rewarding to see our volunteer work with our students. They realize that the reason our volunteers are here is to help them through their life challenges - and they really appreciate that.

We always need more volunteers than we have - especially the last 5 sale evenings and for tearing down on the 5th. So please feel free to share this information with others and to come more often than you sign up for if your schedule allows. You're free to just show up - trust me, we won't turn you away!! There is something for everyone to do!

Parents - We really appreciate your teens energy so please feel free to bring them or drop them off! As long as they are mature enough to be alone then they are welcome. We will watch out for them the best we can but make sure we have a phone number to reach you in case of an emergency. Kids under 13 are free to come with adults. They usually enjoy being a human sign, opening small boxes, doing price checks and other simple tasks. It's a great learning experience for them and they are a big help in so many ways.
