EVENT DESCRIPTION:

The WGBH FunFest - a day of ice cream and music - returns to WGBH Studios (One Guest Street, Brighton, MA) on Saturday, July 16, from 10am-4pm. This fun-filled community event will feature ice cream from some of your favorites and LIVE musical and dance performances throughout the day by family-friendly artists. Kids will have the chance to participate in interactive games and enjoy moonbounce jumping, inflatable rides, and more! Plus, PBS characters Chirp, Curious George, Arthur, and Buddy from Dinosaur Train will all be here to meet their adoring fans. WGBH is expecting 3,000+ attendees and we need your help to ensure kids of all ages have FUN at FunFest. Volunteers always have a great time at this event!

WHAT WE'LL BE DOING:

There will be a variety of activities for volunteers, including but not limited to the following:

Face Painter - Design simple color images on kidsâ€(tm) faces.

Ice Cream Scoopers - Serve delicious ice cream (provided by our generous vendors) to hungry guests in the mood for a refreshing sweet treat on a hot summer day.

Kids Activity Volunteer - Provide guests with game instructions; help manage line and distribute prizes.

Moonbounce Patrol - Help maintain moonbounce order; group kids by age to ensure safety; manage line; and keep track of jump time to keep line moving.

Kids Activity Station - Kids will draw their idea of a perfect ice cream sundae and these drawings will be put on display in the art area. Volunteers will keep the coloring area tidy; encourage kids to draw; and hang up artwork.

WGBH will accommodate volunteers with disabilities by placing them in volunteer positions that they feel comfortable with.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:

Volunteer position training will be provided on the day of the event.

WHERE TO MEET:

Mission Statement

One Brick provides support to local non-profit and community organizations by creating a unique, social and flexible volunteer environment for those interested in making a concrete difference in the community. We enable people to get involved, have an impact and have fun, without the requirements of individual long-term commitments.

Description

Headquartered in San Francisco, California, One Brick is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that brings volunteers together to support other local non-profits by adopting an innovative twist to the volunteer experience: we create a friendly and social atmosphere around volunteering, and after each volunteer event -- which typically lasts only 3 to 4 hours -- we invite volunteers to gather at a local restaurant or caf where they can get to know one another in a relaxed social setting.

Our 'commitment-free volunteering' allows you to choose when you volunteer, rather than having to make commitments for a certain number of volunteer hours, or agree to be available every week at a specific time.
