Director's "Right Hand" - Help while Justin recovers from surgery

Opportunity: Justin Estep, Director of ILS, will be having shoulder surgery and will not be able to use his right arm from July 5 _ Aug 5. During this time, we are looking for volunteers (1 individual a week to work 1 week at a time to be Justin’s "right hand person.") The volunteer opportunity will accomplish several goals that I believe are mutually beneficial to both Catholic Charities and the volunteer:

1. Assist Justin in administrative functions (60% of the time)- This experience will allow you to have firsthand experience in non-profit operations and management. You will get a better understanding of budgeting, operational planning, community development, and management and servant leadership.
2. Be a part of case record reviews (20% of the time)- Case record reviews are where the staff come together to evaluate client case histories, ongoing needs, community gaps, etc. You will get to experience the Catholic Social Teachings in action, learn more about the services of Catholic Charities and how we answer the call to serve those that are less fortunate. In addition, you will get a better understanding of the complexities surrounding poverty (financial, social, educational and spiritual) and they will be able to ask questions and engage in the process.
3. Direct interactions with clients (20% of the time)- You will be able to have direct contact with clients and interact with them directly in their service delivery. As a side note, the majority of the clients speak Spanish so if you are bilingual or learning Spanish this would have a great opportunity to practice your Spanish. If you do not speak Spanish, this will not be a barrier.
