Approximately 25 volunteers are needed to serve as coaches/trainers for the Athletic Challenge Event (ACE) Program. Volunteers will establish rapport and friendship with adults with intellectual disabilities, while coaching them to cultivate a specific motor skill or basic athletic activity. Examples include: Teach how to shoot a basketball, hold a golf club and putt a ball, roll a ball, toss a beanbag into a basket.
We are asking coaches for a 5-week commitment, which includes 4 weeks of coaching and participation on ACE Day on Friday September 16 th, 2016. Coaching will begin the week of August 15 th. Coaching sessions will take place once a week for 30 to 60 minutes Monday - Friday between 9:30-2pm, weekdays. Easter Seals provides supplies. Orientation and training will be provided at the end of July (date to be announced). If interested, please respond by July 25th.

Description

Examples of programs and services include: Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy, Assistive Technology, Summer Camp, Independent Living Training Skills, Adult Basic Education, Computer Training, Job Training and Placement, Support Groups, Day and Community Programs, and Specialized Transportation
