Welcome to the Workhouse, a full-scale arts facility in the space of the former Lorton Reformatory. Our buildings are home to 100+ studio artists who work with paint, clay, glass, fiber arts, and everything else imaginable. As well, we offer hundreds of classes and workshops, professional performing arts shows and concerts, and community events throughout the year. We're evolving Fairfax County, and you too can be a part of that magic...
A main element of our mission is to be true to the artists who work here by keeping rent to a fair price, and providing quality exhibits and performances to our guests. We meet our budget largely by hosting fund-raisers throughout the year, and we couldn't be quite as successful without the help of wonderful volunteers.
This year, the Workhouse Arts Center and Celebrate Fairfax are introducing the first-annual Workhouse BrewFest on Saturday, August 13th. The event will feature live music throughout the day, 30+ breweries from VA (& surrounding states) including 5 from Fairfax County. Tickets are selling fast, and we're expecting a large crowd!
Here's the scoop on volunteering for BrewFest:
The Workhouse BrewFest could not exist without the support of volunteers. We are looking for as many as 350 volunteers to join the first ever Workhouse BrewFest Brew Crew to help in a variety of locations throughout the festival. Our Brew Crew will work all over the festival in various roles to help support the BrewFest staff, leadership team supervisors, attendees and artists to ensure everyone is having an amazing experience. As a Brew Crew member, you could be helping with admission, greeting attendees, assisting breweries with pouring and much more!
As an added bonus, if you sign up for the 1st or 2nd shift you will get a pass to enjoy the festival after your shift.
We hope to see you there! For more information, visit our website:
