ORGANIZATION: National MS Society Mid America

We need help marking the cyclist's route from Olathe to Lawrence for Bike MS 2017. You will be driving and securing signs into dirt to make sure every cyclist knows which direction to go. This will be under the supervision of other volunteers who have marked this route for years! They are extremely helpful and will be pointing you in the right direction along the way.

Bike MS is much more than the ride of a lifetime, with each pedal stroke you’ll be helping us reach our goal - a world free of MS.

*Great opportunity for parents who'd prefer to supervise their children during community servcie. As a team effort, you can drive and your kids can put the signs in the grass.

Mission Statement

We will cure MS while empowering people affected by MS to live their best lives.

Description

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society funds more MS research, offers more services to people with MS, provides more professional education programs and advances more MS advocacy efforts than any other MS organization in the world. Through its home office and fifty-state network of chapters, the National MS Society provides assistance to over a million people annually in its continuing mission to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis. The Mid America Chapter serves 159 counties in Kansas and Missouri.

Seeking out and engaging volunteers to the MS cause is at the very core of our business. Each year the Society organizes a series of community events that provide many opportunities for the enthusiastic volunteer. The Society offers two key fundraising activities: Bike MS, and Walk MS Walk. The Society also engages volunteers to help influence law-makers at the federal, state and municipal levels toward legislation important to people with MS. The Society is looking for passionate volunteers with expertise in areas such as: marketing communications, public relations, corporate and donor development, medical, legal, administrative and organizational expertise.
