ORGANIZATION: Good Shepherd Shelter

Good Shepherd Shelter for women with children in Los Angeles is the oldest domestic violence shelter in Los Angeles County. It is our goal to help each of our clients to maximize their confidence and ability to live independent lives, while they are in our program. GSS is looking for Certified Driving Schools & Driving Instructors to provide driving lessons for one of our moms currently, and possibly more in the future.

Spanish speaking is perferred.

Mission Statement

Good Shepherd Shelter's mission is to stop the generational cycle of domestic violence by providing individualized, comprehensive services and shelter to battered women and their children and by raising the level of community awareness through advocacy and education.

Description

As a refuge for women and their children who have been victims of domestic violence, we empower each family to heal, become self-sufficient and end the generational cycle of violence.

Our campus is on three acres of land and we provide health education, screenings and referral services, as well as mental health services are provided for the families. We also provide legal services and adult education classes for the mothers. The children attend our on-site school that is affiliated with Los Angeles Unified School District.
