  • 25 people are interested

Maitri is looking for individuals who are interested in providing compassionate care to our diverse group of residents at a hospite and respite care home.

We provide a comprehensive training 3 times a year, after which we ask for a 6 month commitment of 4 hours per week.

Once your training is complete, you will be volunteering in the Maitri facility, assisting residents to doctor appointments, errands, or providing the compassionate companionship and support that makes Maitri such a unique place to volunteer.

Questions? Contact Maitri Volunteer Coordinator at 415-558-3004, enver@maitrisf.org

About Maitri Compassionate Care

Location:

401 Duboce Ave., San Francisco, CA 94117, US

Mission Statement

Maitri (pronounced "my-tree") is Sanskrit for "compassionate friendship." We believe that no one should have to suffer, transition, or die alone.

Description

Maitri Compassionate Care is a 15-room licensed Residential Care Facility for the Chronically Ill in the Castro that provides compassionate residential care to people with HIV/AIDS who are in need of 24-hour medical or mental health care for hospice, respite/restoration, or gender-affirmation support. We seek compassionate individuals to provide emotional support to residents by escorting them to doctor's appointments, taking them out for coffee, reading by their bedside, or sitting with someone who is actively dying.
