We are seeking a volunteer to be a friendly visitor for an older adult in West Hartford. Client is an elderly man and was a mechanical engineer and used to fix all kinds of things. He used to fix his own cars, for example. He once invented and got a patent for a completely different kind of engine that would use much less gas. He likes history and talks about that. He is from the former Soviet Union, specifically from Odessa Ukraine. He speaks both Russian and English. After he retired from being an engineer he drove older Russian speaking people to doctor’s appointments and translated for them.

Friendly visitors help to relieve isolation while providing a sense of connection to the outside world and expanding horizons. Friendly Visiting is a program that joins volunteers & those seeking companionship to form mutually rewarding relationships.
