Spanish Students

This program brings groups of students from Spain and Italy local communities. Students stay with volunteer host families for 3-4 weeks in June and July. They spend their time exploring the local culture with their host families and immersing themselves in to the American away of life and English language, while forming strong bonds with host family members.

The students will be coming from all different parts of Spain and Italy. They will be both boys and girls between the ages of 14-17. The program is a bit different from a typical study abroad program in that it is immersion based. This means that the students will not attend classes. Rather, they will practice their English through everyday communication. While the students will have field trips/excursions twice a week with EF staff, most of the time will be spent with their host families. Therefore, we would like to place the students with families where at least one parent or teenager will be home (or otherwise spending time with the Spanish student) most of the time.

In Ventura, Oxmard, Camarillo and Thousand Oaks area, the program date is June 30-July 19.

If you are able to provide a bed, three meals a day, transportation to and from the local course center 2 times per week, and a caring environment, you have what it takes to host an international student! This experience will allow you to cultivate long-lasting friendships and promote cross-cultural connections in your community. American students also earn 60 hours of community service!

Prior to your student's arrival, you will be required to attend a Host Family Orientation. At this meeting you will learn important details about the program and meet the staff that will be working with your students during their stay.

Mission Statement

Our mission and our passion are one and the same. For almost 50 years, we've helped millions of people become citizens of the world by breaking down barriers of language, culture and geography. Through cultural exchanges, educational travel, language training and degree programs we are the World Leader in International Education.

Description

By hosting an international student with EHP, you will introduce your family to an exciting new global experience. As a host family, you will get to share in your student’s daily discovery of the U.S, hear the excitement in their voice when they tell you about their activities, and watch their language skills develop. During these adventures together, you will break down the barriers of language and culture while creating lifelong friendships! Our short term programs are perfect for our Host Families' busy lifestyles. Hosting with EHP allows you and your family to experience another culture without having to make a long-term commitment.
