RSVP 55+ Volunteer Program partners with Making the Ride Happen to provide transportation for those age 60+ or an individual with a disability Making the Ride Happen, a program of Lutheran Social Services, is a transportation, information and assistance center that makes it easy for a person to get to the places they need to go. The call center educates the callers on the choices of transportation to get to their location. Sometimes the best choice is a caring, compassionate volunteer driver.
The volunteer drivers are put on a monthly schedule based on their availability. A day before the shift, the Making the Ride Happens staff makes them aware of the details of their ride. If you want to feel appreciated, just provide a ride to someone to get to their doctor appointment, grocery store, hair appointment, social activity or other errands. Client satisfaction surveys are completed regularly...feel the love!
Drivers use their own car and pick their own schedule. The Making the Ride Happen staff work to accommodate all of your needs along with their clients to make a match.
RSVP 55+ Volunteer Program supports efforts in our community that help seniors remain in their own home. If you are interested in working with Making the Ride Happen contact RSVP and learn about the support RSVP provides these drivers.

Description
Make a Difference in Your Community
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
