ORGANIZATION: Volunteers of America Texas

We are looking for a skilled, organized, and spirited Event Coordinator to help us plan holiday events for our seniors at Northway Landing, an affordable housing program for low-income seniors. Volunteering in this capacity will give our residents a chance to socialize and interact with their neighbors. It also gives residents an opportunity to be engaged psychologically, emotionally and socially which helps to promote and improve quality of life.

The Event Coordinator position is an opportunity to interact with our residents in a safe, fun and relaxed atmosphere. The Event Coordinator will be responsible for planning and coordinating holiday events/parties (Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Labor Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, MLK Day, Halloween, Easter), birthday parties, movie nights, and game nights for the residents of Northway Landing. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to providing decorations, providing food and/or beverages, providing movies, providing games and clean-up after the event. You are required to work a two hour shift once per month for at least three months.

While Volunteers of America Texas has a number of needs and opportunities that we would like to address through volunteerism we do not always have the financial resources to purchase the materials and supplies for each project. For some projects we may ask that the volunteer group to provide the materials and supplies required.
