Learn how to create a beautiful garden that can help preserve local waterways!
Gunpowder Valley Conservancy's Clear Creeks Project is looking for volunteers to help plant gardens at Miramar Landing, the first Baltimore County community to achieve Bay-Wise certification of all common landscape owned by the homeowner association
We will be planting trees and installing several Bayscape gardens on Sunday June 12th. Community Service Learning Hours available for students. Gardening supplies will be provided. Dress for yard work and bring a water bottle!
What is a Bayscape? Bayscapes are beautiful landscapes that work with nature to protect our creeks and the Bay. Bayscapes replace lawn with native plants (attractive native flowers, grasses, shrubs and even trees) that support wildlife, reduce maintenance, and filter rain water from your roof, yard, driveway, or other hard surfaces.
TO REGISTER: Contact Amy Young, Clear Creeks Volunteer/Outreach coordinator, ayoung@gunpowdervc.org, or call (410) 404-4748. You can also register online at www.gunpowdervalleyconservancy.org/volunteer.
The Clear Creeks Project (www.clearcreeks.org), coordinated by the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, is a grant-funded, citizen-based initiative that helps answer a community desire to restore the water quality of the Middle River, Tidal Gunpowder, and Bird River watersheds. The project is also funded by: National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Chesapeake Bay Trust, Baltimore County Maryland, Baltimore Gas & Electric, and Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
