The National Federation of the Blind works towards independence, equal opportunity and quality of life for the approximately 80,000 blind residents of Nevada. We provide training programs, legislative iniciatives, legal assistance, and more.

Come out on Sunday June 12th and meet the NFB at our annual pretzel Necklace Day. We will be building 500 pretzel Necklaces in support of our annual funraising vendor booth at the Eldorado Blues and Brews Festival. Money raised at blues and brews supports NFB training, transportation, networking and other opportunities for local persons who are blind.

Lunch will be provided. Stop by any time. The NNCIL is located at Pyramid and h streets accross from Sparks Florist. Free parking is available. NNCIL is directly on RTC rout 2, or can be reached by taking RTC root 25 or 26 to Prader and 13th and walking down pyramid.

Thank you for supporting the Northern Nevada Chapter of the National Federation Of The Blind.

Mission Statement

The national Federation Of the blind creates programs and advocates for policies which improve the independence, quality of life, and equal opportunity for persons who are blind.

Description

The National Federation Of the Blind is the largest organized movement of blind people in the United States with over 50,000 members in all US states and territories. Locally in Nevada we run training programs to provide computer technology and life skills training, career building opportunities, sports and recreation and more. We conduct legislative advocacy to protect the dignity and equality of Nevadans who are blind. We partner with other organizations in Communities around the state to improve public infrastructure and raise awareness of issues concerning Nevadans who are blind. We provide information and services for friends, family, and others who support persons who are blind.

The NFB is maintained exclusively by the blind for the blind, Opportunities for persons who are blind begin with the NFB and we are proud of our talent and abilities. Within the organization, we strive to create programs and iniciatives that maximize the skills available to us in the organization. The NFB is a place where people who are blind and their families can come and learn to be blind with dignity and respect.
