Volunteer Computer Instructor
DelrayCommunityWellnessCenteris looking for an experienced Volunteer instructor to teach people age 55 and older how to use computers and the Internet to pursue their interests and contribute to their communities. Our aim is to bridge the digital divide by providing computer access and education to older adults who may not have had the opportunity to learn computer skills in the workplace or who may not have the means to purchase a computer of their own.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Must have exceptional computer skills.
* Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Must have knowledge of a wide range of computer technologies.
* Must have excellent trouble shooting skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two (2) to three (3) years experience working with PC's in Windows environment, to include word processing, desk top, spreadsheets and Internet or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-- Extensive knowledge and skills about PC's including Windows operating systems, word processing programs, desk top publishing, spreadsheets and other programs.
-- Some knowledge and skills in using the Internet.
-- Some knowledge of teaching principles.
-- Some knowledge of training and supervision.
-- Some knowledge about older adults.
-- Knowledge of curriculum tailored for seniors

Project Summary: The purpose of the Center is to advance the health of the residents of PBC. The Board is responsible and accountable for the Center’s operation and is charged with responsibility for assuring that this purpose is consistently best served by the operations of the Center. The Center will be operated as a non-profit community center supporting people with healthy lifestyle changes. The center will help the residence of south Palm Beach County live healthier and happy lives free of chronic disease. Much of the burden of chronic disease could be prevented or lessened by creating communities where everyone can eat well, move more, avoid tobacco use and obtain regular health screenings. In the meantime, for the many people who already have chronic diseases, and for those diseases we can’t entirely prevent, we must help the residents of PBC live better with their health conditions.
