Job Summary: The role of the volunteer instructor is to assist our lead instructors with a variety of program related tasks. Assistance is delivered through hands-on delivery of life skills instruction, golf instruction, and mentoring of participants. Assistant Instructors must complete a background check, a child online safety course, orientation and volunteer training, which familiarizes our volunteer instructors with The First Tee coaching methodology and curriculum.
Time Commitment
- 2 -3 hours per week for a minimum of ten (10) weeks for Core Programs.
Volunteer Expectations & Requirements
- With direction from the Lead Instructor, assist with a class session on a consistent basis
- Set up and break down of golf and life skills program equipment and supplies
- Delivery of golf and life skills instruction to participants
- Actively engage, assist, and mentor youth participants
- Serve as a model of mature, responsible behavior to participants
- Foster relationships with participants, while serving as a role model
- Encourage a fun and learning environment
- Display an interest in the development of youth
- Dress professionally (proper golf attire)
- Arrive 30 minutes prior to class start time
- Lesson plan review prior to the start of class
- An appreciation for the game of golf and its inherent life lessons

Description
The First Tee of The Triangle is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to serve as coaches to our junior golf participants during after-school and weekend programming throughout the spring, summer, and fall. These volunteer opportunities are available at six partner facilities locations in the Triangle area - Governors Club, Hillandale Golf Course, Knights Play Golf Center, North Ridge Country Club, Wildwood Green Golf Club and Wil-Mar Golf Club. Some golf knowledge is preferred, but not required. Proficient playing ability is NOT a requirement. The only requirment is a desire to work with children and the appreciation for the game of golf.
