There will be a recycling workshop. composting demonstrations, live animals, and more to engage families in educational, sustainable activities.
This year, GrowNYC will assist with recycling efforts to make this community event more sustainable. Recycling volunteers will educate participants on how to properly recycle through outreach and recycling monitoring. Location:
100 Gold Street, Suite 3300, New York, NY 10038, US
Mission Statement
Our mission is to help New Yorkers increase the amount of recyclables diverted from the waste stream by providing education and resources for recycling, waste prevention, materials reuse and composting. We work intensively on a community-by-community basis in all five boroughs, offering free building waste audits and trainings for tenants, landlords and supers. We are also working to provide special waste collections such as textiles, electronics and compost in our targeted areas, as well as central locations citywide.
Description
GrowNYC's Zero Waste Programs is working to improve recycling participation in New York City. Staff members conduct community by community grassroots outreach to help residential buildings develop better recycling systems and provide additional opportunities to recycle materials not currently accepted in the city's curbside program.
