Help low-income students get into college!

ORGANIZATION: PeerForward

In four days, you can change a student’s life forever. By volunteering at a College Summit Workshop, you have the power to help thousands of students from low-income communities unleash their potential.

Over the past 20 years, College Summit has transformed the lives of over 250,000 students from 500 schools nationwide. The cornerstone of our unique peer-driven college access program is our Summer Workshops, and the volunteer network they attract. Annually, over 600 volunteers from across the country offer their time and skills to help unleash the potential of America’s youth.

Through PeerForward, our campaign for the next generation, College Summit will connect 1.8 million students to college and career over the next decade. We do this by training influential high school students - Peer Leaders - to motivate their classmates over the school year to enroll in college.

You can be a part of the PeerForward movement.

By spending four days as a Writing Coach or College Coach, you will help students with:

  • Completing college applications
  • Understanding their financial aid options
  • Developing a list of "good fit" colleges
  • Crafting a personal statement

Volunteer applications will be available on April 1, 2016. For more information, visit collegesummit.org/volunteer

If you have any questions or would like to request more information, please contact Natasha Bailey at nbailey@collegesummit.org

About PeerForward

Mission Statement

PeerForward unleashes the power of influential high school students in low-income districts across the U.S. to boost school-wide college preparation and enrollment.

Description

In low-income communities across America, PeerForward trains teams of high school students to guide their peers through making a postsecondary plan. These teams are part of a national movement to strengthen the college-going cultures in high schools across the country using the power of positive peer influence. By organizing school-wide activities and events throughout the school year, Peer Leaders educate their peers about postsecondary education options, increase the number of students enrolling in higher education, and ensure all students are prepared for life after high school. Peer Leaders not only change the culture in their high schools, but they are also part of a movement that leverages the power of students to make college the expectation, not the exception!
