Volunteer in the After School Program

Come help us put on a free Health & Wellness Conference for our community's families, presented by USES's South End Family Engagement Network (SEFEN). The event will include Family Zumba, healthy food demonstrations, and financial literacy workshops.

We will need your assistance with set-up, serving breakfast and lunch, helping with kids' arts & crafts activities, and clean-up.

Can't stay for the full day? No problem! Sign up for just one shift - morning (9 AM-12PM) or afternoon (12PM - 3PM).

SEFEN is a member of the Boston Family Engagement Network (BFEN), a citywide coalition dedicated to "raising awareness of the importance of family engagement in the life of a young child." BFEN "partners with families of young children and community stakeholders to promote children's learning, healthy development, school readiness and potential for success starting at birth."

Mission Statement

USES's mission is to harness the power of our diverse community to disrupt the cycle of poverty for children and their families. We believe that as families stabilize through access to increased resources, become more resilient, and build a diverse network of relationships, they and their children are more likely to develop the skills they need to succeed and break the cycle of poverty.

Description

We have created a bold new model designed to equip children and their families with economic mobility and social capital. Our programs align to our renewed mission that leads to profound, "whole family" impact. As families stabilize and take advantage of opportunities for advancement, they are connecting to an inclusive community that is investing social capital and uniting for the success of all.

Coaching: Coaching is a supportive partnership that empowers participants with the tools to find solutions and move their families forward.

Early Childhood Education: USES’ Early Childhood Education program prepares each child emotionally, academically, and physically to succeed in kindergarten.

club48: club48 provides high-quality services with curricula that support school success and promote the social, cognitive, and emotional development of the students.

Camp Hale: Established in 1900, Camp Hale operates on the belief that all youth, particularly those from urban environments, will benefit from challenging opportunities for physical, mental, and social growth and development.

Training for Office Jobs: USES’ job training program ensures that our neighbors have the education and opportunities they need to move toward economic self-sufficiency.
