The Coastal Watershed Council and the San Lorenzo River Alliance is seeking volunteers to help with the Riverwalk Usage Study along the Santa Cruz Riverwalk. First conducted from Aug 2014 - July 2015 the study was used to establish a baseline count of the number of people using the San Lorenzo Riverwalk. The study is ongoing and it used to inform improvements to the Riverwalk and see how the Riverwalk develops into place of recreation, family time and fun for all of Santa Cruz.
In the Riverwalk Usage Study, individual volunteers go to the San Lorenzo Riverwalk, stand in discrete predetermined Riverwalk access points for a total of 30 minutes, and count the people they see participating in various activities. We ask that volunteers commit to at least one 30 minute session a month on Thursday, Saturday or Sunday from noon to 12:30. It is a great way to spend time on the Riverwalk and learn about your community.
