Volunteer Food Captain

The Wisconsin AIDS Ride is a four day ride (July 28 to July 31) where the riders and crew spend the nights at a high school. As part of the support for the riders and crew, breakfast and dinner are provided - these meals are prepared by volunteers using the school's kitchen. The primary duties include: overseeing other volunteers in the preparation, cooking and serving of three breakfasts and three dinners at the host base camp for approximately 150 riders, crew members and volunteers. Candidates should feel comfortable in a kitchen and will be responsible for leading the charge to make sure meals are planned and served on time, addressing diet restrictions and food allergies, and ensuring everything is cleaned up at the end of the event.

Ideally this person is going to be at the school by noon on Thursday, July 28 to unpack the truck and set up the kitchen and will remain at the school until about 10AM on Sunday, July 31 for cleaning and packing up the kitchen.

Generally, the food crew works 3:30 AM to 9:00 AM Friday, Saturday and Sunday and 3:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. You would be able to leave the school during your down time and are more than welcome to sleep at the school with everyone else (that's part of the magic of the ride).

If interested in this unique experience, please contact Carrie Sweet.
