The Tuskegee Cadet Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol, located at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB) in Washington, DC, seeks volunteers with an interest in healthy living and youth mentorship to promote positive lifestyle choices for youth aged 12-20.

The vision of the Drug Demand Reduction program (DDR) in the Civil Air Patrol is for CAP cadets to "[apply] their leadership skills by serving as ambassadors of the drug-free ethic." The mission of the DDR program in the Civil Air Patrol is to promotes CAP as a positive community service lifestyle, encourage youth to stay in school, focus on drug abuse awareness, education and prevention and provide positive activities as an alternative to drugs and gang violence.

The framework for the DDR program in the Tuskegee Squadron is to teach the cadets using a holistic approach to continuously strive to live out our vision and mission by using the CAP core values of Integrity, Volunteer Service, Excellence and Respect.

Vision: For every cadet to know they are the leader of their life.

Mission: To assist cadets in developing concrete ways to become ambassadors for optimal wellness in their lives and others while having fun.

  • Willing to volunteer 5-10 hours per month and regularly attending weekly squadron meetings, held on Monday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, is a nonprofit organization with 58,000 members nationwide. In its Air Force Auxiliary role, CAP performs about 85 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions. Its unpaid professionals also perform homeland security, disaster relief, and drug interdiction missions at the request of federal, state, and local agencies. The members play a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to more than 24,000 young people currently participating in CAP's Cadet Program. The Tuskegee Cadet Squadron is the only Civil Air Patrol squadron located within the District of Columbia. This squadron is primarily dedicated to the implementation of the CAP Cadet Program, which encourages young people between the ages of 12 and 20 to develop leadership skills, meet physical and intellectual challenges, and serve their communities. A variety of other positions are available as well.
