Bellevue Arts Museum seeks an intern to assist the Special Events & Volunteer Manager to prepare for BAM’s two largest annual events: Artful Evening (July 16) and BAM ARTSfair (July 28-31). The Special Events & Volunteer Internship will assist with recruitment, processing, scheduling, preparation and orientation for Artful Evening and BAM ARTSfair. The Special Events & Volunteer Internship will actively help the manager and coordinator to recruit volunteer leads as well as organize and prepare volunteer materials. The Special Events & Volunteer Intern must be comfortable taking on a leadership role among peers. The Events Intern will work closely with the Special Events & Volunteer Manager and the Programming Events & Volunteer Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

Volunteers:

  • Research and update Artful Evening & ARTSfair volunteer outreach lists.
  • Will conduct community outreach to recruitment volunteers for Artful Evening and BAM ARTSfair.
  • Assist in processing volunteer applications and maintain accurate records in database.
  • Research and help develop volunteer activities for ARTSfair.
  • Help organize and coordinate Artful Evening & ARTSfair materials.
  • Be onsite during and provide additional support for Artful Evening, July 16, and BAM ARTSfair, July 28-31.
  • Act as a lead onsite with Volunteer Manager or Coordinator for volunteers during Artful Evening & BAM ARTSfair.
  • Log volunteer hours in database and help process volunteer community service forms.

Special Events:

  • Research and create a list of cultural special events and festivals in the local area for 2017.
  • Research venue marketing platforms.
  • Research special event software.
  • Maintains museum equipment such as wine glasses, water glasses, serving platters, linens, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Organized with great attention to detail.
  • Experience and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be available from June through early- August, 2016.
  • Must be available for Artful Evening on Saturday, July 16 and ARTSfair weekend July 28-31.
