Sunday Parkways season is here, folks -- come out and join us in North Portland!
City of Portland Sunday Parkways , presented by Kaiser Permanente, is a series of five community events that promote healthy living by opening the city's largest public space -- its streets -- for people to walk, bike, roll, and discover active transportation! Besides all the active outdoor fun, the events strive to foster civic pride, stimulate economic development, and represent the investments that communities, businesses and government bodies are making in Portland's vitality, livability, and diversity.
Last year over 100,000 people attended the events, with 250 volunteers making it all possible. The next event is coming up in North Portland on June 26th , and we need your help to make it a success!
Here's how we need your help...
- Mobile Superheroes: to ride the route on your bike, keeping a watchful eye on the neighborhood and backing up the Intersection Superheroes.
- Intersection Superheroes: to command the barricades, making sure participants are safe from cars and neighbors are happy.
- Each shift lasts no longer than 3.5 hours, but you may sign up for more than one!
...and here's how we show our appreciation!
- An ORANGE Sunday Parkways volunteer t-shirt
- Refreshments before your shift
- Support before, during and after the event
- A 2016 Sunday Parkways bandana - volunteer for any three Sunday Parkways shifts across the season and it's yours!
