The African People's Education and Defense Fund (www.apedf.org) needs your skills and talents as a summer social media coordinator in one of its dynamic, economic development institutions - Uhuru Furniture and Collectibles in Oakland, CA. Be part of the team that is driven by African self-determination. Help produce a positive impact on the health, education, human rights and future of the black (African) community. Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles sells good quality furniture and collectibles at reasonable prices.

TASKS Under the direct supervision of the Marketing Coordinator, you will:

  • Participate in weekly marketing meetings

  • Do research for quality social media postings content

  • Write proposal posts to be moderated by the Marketing Coordinator

  • Ensure the organized scheduling of posts on various platforms

  • Train a new intern

  • Track your results

Uhuru Furniture and Collectibles is a non-profit store that is a fundraiser for black community empowerment programs of APEDF. We receive a truck load of donated furniture and household items every day. This is a lively, popular Grand Lake area store staffed mostly by volunteers. When you volunteer at Uhuru Furniture, you not only contribute to the success of the store, you become part of a larger movement for peace through social justice. People shop at Uhuru Furniture for low priced, top quality items and to support crucial programs for social justice for African people.
