DESCRIPTION:

  • The Children’s Program Assistant works with child residents in our shelter and transitional housing program to provide child care, to assist children with homework, and to lead recreational activities so that the lives of the children who have been exposed to domestic violence are enriched through healthy communication and positive interaction. Our Children’s Program has many activities which take place throughout the year, with some programs occurring weekly. Most programs are scheduled after school (evenings) and on the weekends, so there are a variety of shifts available for this position. Two days of in-person training, and a minimum of ten additional hours of shadowing Children’s Program staff members are required for this role. Volunteer training and shadowing of staff will take place in Canton, Georgia.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Child Advocate with program activities
  • Assist Children with homework
  • Assist in discussions on anger, violence, feelings, etc.
  • Babysit when needed
  • Supervise children during structured activities
