Family/Youth Area fun - join our FutureFest committee

ORGANIZATION: MINDDRIVE INCORPORATED

MINDDRIVE is looking for motivated volunteers to serve on a Family/Youth Area committee. Committee members work with the committee and MINDDRIVE staff to determine partner needs and accommodations.

This is an opportunity for longer-term volunteering through June of 2017. The Committees meet, as needed weekly or monthly leading up to FutureFest.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit volunteers for Family/Youth Area
  • Work with committee and MINDDRIVE to create mailing lists of potential partners
  • Follow-up with partners in-person or by phone
  • Ensure participating partners sign appropriate agreement and returns a copy to MINDDRIVE
  • Work with Logistics Chairperson and MINDDRIVE staff to determine partner needs and accommodations
  • On event day: greet partners, direct to assigned area and check-in periodically throughout day
  • Identify and refer potential sponsors
  • Spread the word about the event
  • Recruit friends to attend FutureFest
  • Attend FutureFest and VIP Pre-Event

The event: FutureFest is projected to take place in June of 2017 at Swope Park.

FutureFest is an outdoor showcase of innovation and education in the heart of Kansas City. FutureFest will bring cutting-edge technology to the people. The event is hands-on and interactive focused in three primary areas: drones, electric vehicles and STEM based activities.

Drone Arena

  • Practice area where kids of all ages can try their hand at flying.
  • Agility course where participants can register to compete in a time trial.
  • Demonstration by industry professionals, possible feature acts.

EV Alley

  • MINDDRIVE student demos of Electrathon vehicles.
  • Electric cars on display, possible demo areas or car club showcase.
  • Pit lane and charging zone.

STEM Zone

  • Robotics area for local groups and schools to showcase variety of projects.
  • Hands-on Lego activity area or building area for on-site education.
  • Mini-MINDDRIVE Experience, pine wood derby and CO2 car raceway.

Desired skills (not limited or required): reliability, experience working with sponsors, attention to detail, flexibility, high energy and enthusiasm, outgoing personality

Description

MINDDRIVE is a stand alone 501(c)3 educational program that offers after school classes for high school aged students from the greater metropolitan area of Kansas City. The program provides project-based learning and one-on-one mentor involvement with the students. Mentors are hand picked to offer the highest possible contribution as related to their professional expertise that pertains to the topics of the class. Our classes include: Automotive Design Studio, Welding, 3D CAD, Digital Creativity in Communication, Computer Coding and more.
