American Cancer Society Relay for Life events give everyone across the globe a chance to Celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, Remember loved ones lost, and to Fight Back against the disease. The event raises both funds and awareness for the battle against cancer.
The Relay for Life of Ballantyne event begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 3rd and goes until 4 am on Saturday, June 4th. Teams of people from the community will take turns walking around the track at Ardrey Kell High School’s football stadium to raise money. When participants aren’t walking, they can enjoy music, food and entertainment. Last year we raised over $120,000 to fight cancer at the event thanks to HOC volunteers’ help, and this year over 500 participants are expected to attend!
The event is organized by a small committee of volunteers. On the day of the event, we need many more volunteers to help ensure its success. Depending on the shift(s) you choose, we may need your assistance to set up and decorate for the event, to help unload Relay team’s site material, to register attendees, to help direct parking lot traffic, to work in the cancer survivors’ tent, to make luminarias, to help lead games or to help clean up. Stay for as many shifts as you’d like, or if you can just help for part of a shift we’d appreciate the assistance!
Shifts start at 2:30pm on Friday and go through 8am on Saturday - please contact us for more information. Please consider being a part of this important community event!
