Mission Statement

Quality fields and exceptional experience. The mission statement for the Emerald City Classic (ECC) and the Emerald City Softball Association (ECSA) is to provide a fun, friendly, safe competitive fun environment for all individuals to participate in the competition and spirit of softball.

Description

The ECSA started in 1980 in Seattle as a group of friends playing ball and has grown to be a welcoming place for LGBTQ and non-LGBTQ players to partake in the competition and spirit of softball. It is now one of the oldest and largest gay-softball leagues in the nation.

As a member of the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (NAGAAA) -- which represents more than 13,000 players and 800 teams in 43 member cities in the U.S. and Canada -- the ECSA sends its top teams to each year's NAGAAA Gay Softball World Series.

ECSA also hosts the Emerald City Classic (ECC). This is the largest open division softball tournament in the Pacific Northwest. ECC takes place annually over the July 4th weekend. ECC will be celebrating 35 years in 2016. ECC takes uses three softball parks, a total of 13 fields. Sixty teams register for this tournament which brings players, family and friends to Seattle from accross the United States and Canada. ECC is always looking for volunteers to assist with the tournament.
