At Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut we build homes in partnership with families in need. These families help to build these homes and also attend many trainings about becoming a homeowner.
Each homeowner is paired with a Mentor (also known as a Partner). This person helps to ensure that the future homeowner is meeting all of their milestones and program requirements. They help to offer guidance and support when needed and connect the homeowner to needed services. We are finding a growing need to have a Volunteer Partner who speaks both English and Spanish.
Each Partner goes through a training process and would be required to come to family support meetings monthly. These are held the third Monday of each month at 5:30 at our office in New London. In addition the partner should be in contact with their future homeowner at least once a month.
If you would like more information or would like to get started in this role please contact Amanda at volunteer@habitatect.org or 860-442-7890 ext 201
