Autism Speaks Walk is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds in the autism community. This grassroots movement is powered by people on the autism spectrum, their families and friends, service providers, schools, businesses and local volunteers. Walkers advocate and take action for the diverse needs of the autism community. Their efforts help generate funds that fuel innovative research and make connections to critical lifelong supports and services.

Autism Speaks is looking for Volunteers for the Pittsburgh Walk. The Walk is June 12, 2016 at Schenley Park Flagstaff Hill. Volunteers are needed for setup and staging, registration, handing out food/drinks, t-shirts, etc. on Sunday and for finishing setup, working the Walk and tear down.

Mission Statement

At Autism Speaks, our goal is to change the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders. We are dedicated to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for autism; to raising public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families, and society; and to bringing hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder. We are committed to raising the funds necessary to support these goals. Autism Speaks aims to bring the autism community together as one strong voice to urge the government and private sector to listen to our concerns and take action to address this urgent global health crisis. It is our firm belief that, working together, we will find the missing pieces of the puzzle. Autism Speaks. It's time to listen.

Description

A new child is diagnosed with autism every 20 minutes. For all the children and families stricken by this disorder -- and all those who will be -- the time to act is now.

Your volunteer efforts will help us as we raise funds for research studies that will help find a cure. With your support, we will transform a community of heartbreak into a community of hope.
