Volunteer Cooler-Packer for Meals on Wheels (Needed Every First Wednesday)

SeniorServ provides Meals On Wheels to over 900 homebound seniors in North and Centeral Orange County. We partner with 26 senior centers that help distribute the food prepared and cooked at our headquarters in Anaheim.

On the 1st Wednesday of every month our senior center Meals on Wheel Site Directors and Coordinators have a monthly meeting from 9:00 am-11:00 am at our headquarters. Unfortunately this is scheduled when some of our coordinators need to be at work because this is the time when our volunteers come to our senior centers to deliver our meals. We are looking for a volunteer to come every first Wednesday of the month to pack the food delivered from the main office in coolers, which are then distributed to the volunteer drivers. Our coordinator will provide adequate training for this position.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has experience managing projects and is achievement-oriented. You will simply be packing about 7 coolers with meals that our volunteer drivers deliver to our homebound seniors. Our Meals on Wheels clients are some of the most invisible people in our communities because they lack the mobility to leave their houses. Due to illness or disability they cannot get to the grocery store or cook for themselves.

The goal of our Site Director's meeting is to resolve internal program issues, connect with our kitchen staff to discuss what meals our clients like and dislike, and provide a time to discuss new ideas between sites. The duties of the volunteer cooler-packer are relatively easy and very fulfilling. The impact you'll make will help our Meals-On-Wheels program thrive. We will need our volunteer to start and 8:30 am and end and 10:30 am.
