The James Smooth Music & Leadership Institute is currently seeking volunteers to help with transportation of donated materials from donors and assistance with capacity building. We also have opportunities available for those who specialize in counseling, tutoring and who have already been fingerprinted by the Department of Health and the Department of Education. We are impacting the lives of youth in New York City, and in order to do so, we need a corps of volunteers.
Volunteers will have plenty of choices and ways to help JSMLI and our Empire State Marching Band, either throughout the week or at JSMLI INC hq every Saturday.
Administration Volunteers: Answer general questions and inquiries from our public and private stakeholders. Enroll new students and complete telephone orientation. Type 45 wpm or more, paper and electronic filing, mail merge, and have a attitude friendly to our activity.
Transportation Volunteers: Purchase a JSMLI tshirt or polo. Every Monday a list will be provided of items JSMLI INC has agreed to pick up and use during the provision of our services. Transportation volunteers will, contact the venue, pick up and load items into a personal or JSMLI rental, and return all items to JSMLI. Drivers license and a clean driving record required.

Description
Here at the James Smooth Music and Leadership Institute (JSMLI), we are committed to providing our students with opportunities to achieve academically in NYC, far beyond their existing expectations. In order to do so, we offer incredible programs in music and the arts, and we believe wholeheartedly in our ability to effect real change with our students.
JSMLI is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Fractured Atlas will receive grants for the charitable purposes of JSMLI, provide oversight to ensure that grant funds are used in accordance with grant agreements, and provide reports as required by the grantor. Contributions for the charitable purposes of JSMLI must be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law
